La Obra de Viviana Ruz
The "arts of earth and fire," in the case of Viviana Ruz, are a tool the artist has chosen for her search for meaning and form, based on profound existential processes. In these works, the artist reveals an extraordinary knowledge of materials, in the handling of the possibilities of color, and in the spatial construction of her creation. In her visual discourse, we see organic forms; the sculptural object is not static, but conceived to break the balance of symmetrical form, either evidently or in small details. At the same time, the work seems to allow for the spatial existence of emptiness; it expresses a metaphor for balance and imbalance, in a certain way the constant change of existence, in its pain and fullness.
We live burdened with enigmas in the here and now, and in a future of changing forms. Art is capable of reflecting our deepest questions, when life seems more burdened with doubt than certainty. Viviana Ruz's work, in its conceptual refinement, is also capable of recovering the ancient magical connection of creation; it intimately appears as a ritual action, capable of bringing the material representation of conflict to light. In this intimate dance of hands, connected with the primordial materials, with the construction of forms and the birth of the work, there is also the ancient representation of female fertility, in an act of creation in which fire establishes the symbolic representation of this writing. A work then emerges, constructed as a transformative action; the work is born toward the light to reveal, above all, the force of life.
